French hoods were worn in the second half of the 15th century, the late Tudor and early Elizabethan period. This one is a silvery blue gold brocade with antique gold trim, a smokey jewel and ivory chiffon veil.   These have wire in them to achieve the desired shape and an adjustable elastic band that goes behind the head under the hair.
