French hoods were worn in the second half of the 15th century, the late Tudor and early Elizabethan period. This one is a rich blue and gold metallic brocade with gold trim , a gold, amber and rhinestone jewel and gold embroidered crisp veil.   These have wire in them to achieve the desired shape and an adjustable elastic band that goes behind the head under the hair.
